Successful Websites in Delaware - Usability Series

September 19th, 2008  |  Published in Web Design

Your competitor’s website is just one click away. Keep visitors by meeting their needs with a successful user experience.

By delivering a great customer experience, you will have a competitive advantage over the competition who neglects to do so. Many sites are poorly executed in user-centered design. They have poor navigation, don’t work properly, unorganized and ultimately drive away customers.

Step One: Improve The User Experience

User-centered design (UCD) is the process of systematically designing for the needs and interests of the end-user at each stage of development. In cooperation with the organization’s business objectives, carefully balance the needs of the user with the needs of your company.

User-Centric Approach

Clearly define the user’s tasks and goals, then use the findings to drive development and design.

  • what are your organization’s primary business objectives
  • who will be the users of the site (develop personas)
  • what are the tasks and goals they seek to accomplish
  • how will they accomplish those tasks
  • what information do your users need
  • what is their experience level
  • what are their attitudes
  • how do they feel about your site and brand

Nothing is more critical than a successful user experience. Hence it is important to devise a design process that is in-depth, and user-focused. Identifying the organization’s direction and understanding the different users and their needs will help build a solid foundation for your website.
